Willa (Qian) Leong represents publicly traded and privately held companies, foreign corporations, private equity firms, startups, private investors, and directors and officers. Her practice is concentrated in corporate law with a particular emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, corporate compliance and structure and real estate related transactions.
Willa has had much success sourcing capital to commercialize high-tech products, implement clean tech projects and originate strategic relationships for her clients. Willa and her team of experts are known for their creative and result-oriented methods in litigation strategy, speechwriting and crisis management.
Willa has received numerous distinguished recognitions throughout her career, including being internationally recognized for making history in 2002 for being the first non-Chinese citizen to be invited by the Chinese government to work at a Chinese State Owned Enterprise. Willa co-authored the Top Capital Magazine “Clean Technology Innovations in China” article which identified the trends affecting clean technology in China and the innovations taking place in this critical industry, which was republished by Foley.com and Martindale.com. Willa was the liaison and outside general counsel for China’s largest clean tech private equity firm, Beijing Energy Investment Holdings, its portfolio companies, and their affiliated companies.
Willa has been recognized by China Daily, Young Money Magazine, Notre Dame Business Magazine, Scholastic Magazine, among others, for winning numerous national business plan competitions, international elevator pitch competitions, and for her contribution to the business community. Willa currently serves on the advisory board of angel groups, accelerators, and emerging companies. She also judges and mentors for high profile business plan and international finance competitions, namely, the University of Notre Dame McCloskey Business Plan Competition, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization competitions, Kofounder Lab, Start-up Chile, and the Forrest Equity Management Film Finance Awards.
Willa received her B.A. in Business, Political Science and Anthropology from the University of Notre Dame, J.D. from University of Miami School of Law, and attended the L.L.M. program at Beijing University. She is admitted to practice law in California and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
