Lauren Rinsky is a tax controversy and litigation attorney at Royse Law Firm, PC, who concentrates her practice on representing individuals and businesses having tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Department of Justice Tax Division, California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Board of Equalization (BOE), and the Employment Development Department (EDD). She has litigated tax cases on behalf of corporate and individual clients in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, including seven published federal tax cases. Her tax dispute experience also includes helping individuals and businesses with federal and state tax audits, administrative appeals, tax debt relief, income tax problems, payroll tax problems, delinquent tax returns, offers in compromise, installment agreements, and abatement of tax penalties.
Prior to joining Royse Law Firm, Lauren worked for nine years for a prominent San Diego law firm. Lauren has also worked as a legal intern at the California Attorney General’s Office in the Appeals, Writs and Trials Section in San Diego, and served as a law clerk at the Employee Rights Center in San Diego. Lauren is admitted to practice in California; the District of Columbia; the U.S. Tax Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Federal Claims; and the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
Lauren is a member of the State Bar of California, Section of Taxation; the District of Columbia Bar; the American Bar Association, Taxation Section; the Palo Alto Area Bar Association; and the Bar Association of San Francisco. She holds an LL.M. in taxation and a J.D., both from the University of San Diego School of Law, and a B.A. in political science from the University of California—Santa Barbara. While in law school, Lauren served as an executive editor of the San Diego International Law Journal.
